Bike & Boat Cycling Holidays on the MS Diana

Your floating hotel for the week is the 3* cruise boat, the MS Diana which has 39 cabins (all exterior) with a capacity of 80 passengers. This is a lovely way to experience the Danube Cycle path from Passau to Vienna back to Passau.

Itinerary:

Day 1- Arrival in Passau - Shuttle from central train station at 4.45pm to boat located in the old town. 4 course evening welcome meal.

Day 2 - Obernzell - Schlogen - Linz (67 km) - Boat cruise from Passau to Obernzell, bicycles are handed out directly on the path, fitting time allowed. Cycle tour along the Danube cycle path passing the Schlogener Schlinge, Ottensheim and finally arriving in Linz. Boat departs Obernzell at 10am, 3pm arrival in Ottensheim, depart at 5pm arrive in Linz 6pm.

Day 3 - Linz-Grein (59km) - Passing the lake Pleschinger See and Mathausen to the moated castle Pragstein through Mitterkirchen (with it's infamous open air museum) to Grein, with it's baroque city square.  Boat departs Linz 12pm and arrives in Grein at 4pm.

Day 4 - Grein-Emmersdorf/Melk (49km) - Cycle tour along the Danube to the Struden and Nibelungengau, passing Sausenstein and finally making your way through Melk and arrive in Emmersdorf. Boat departs Grein 12pm, arrival in Emmersdorf 5pm.

Day 5 - Wachau-Krems (39km) - Cycle tour from Melk through magnificent vineyards to the well known wine regions of Spitz and Durnstein, passing Loiben to Krems. Boat departs 12pm from Emmersdorf, arrival 5pm Krems.

Day 6 - Tulln-Vienna (34km) - The boat cruises from Krems to Tulln where you will arrive at 8.30 and continue along the cycle path to Vienna. On arrival in Vienna you can leave your bike on the boat and explore this beautiful city. Tickets are included to use the urban train which can take you to visit the Stephansdom, Hofburg and Ringstrasse. Dinner on board is served later at around 9pm. The boat continues from Vienna towards Au. Boat 6.30am departure from Krems, arrival 8.30am Tulln. Departs Tulln 9.30am, arrival Vienna 12pm.

Day 7 - Au-St Florian-Linz (45km) - The boat arrives in Au early afternoon. Cycle tour commences from Mauthausen passing Enns (Austria's oldest city) to St Florian. Guided tour of the famous abbey and Bruckner's grave, the most important baroque building in Upper Austria. After the guided tour the cycle tour continues  passing Abwinden to Linz (where you will hand back your bicycle). 4 course farewell dinner. Boat arrives 2pm Au, 3pm departure from Au. 6pm arrival in Linz, 7.30pm departure from Linz to return to Passau.

Day 8 - Departure - boat arrival in Passau at 9am, 9.45am shuttle bus from boat to central train station. Extra nights in Passau may be available upon request.  

All cabins are around 9 metres in size with beds, shower/WC, TV and air conditioning. All rooms have exterior windows which may be opened. The boat has a restaurant where breakfast is buffet style (hot and cold), 3 course evening meal, packed lunch for cyclists and 3 course lunch served on board for those not cycling. A 4 course evening meal is offered on arrival day and farewell meal on the last night. The boat has a spacious sundeck and panorama bar.

Arrivals on Saturday from 9th July - 20th August 2011. Prices include:-
