Cycle Tour Itinerary - Farmhouse Tour
Day 1 - Arrival in Passau - if you have time you can make the most of the picturesque old town or take a boat cruise.
Day 2 - Passau to Aschach/Feldkirchen (approx 52km) - Taking the path from Passau the Danube snakes through Bavarian woods until it reaches the loop at Schlogen. If you have any energy left a walk up the famous "Schlogener Blick" will reward you with fantastic views over this beautiful area. By bike you continue to Aschach/Feldkirchen.
Day 3 - Aschach/Feldkirchen to Mitterkirchen/Perg (approx 53km) - Today you will get a little free time in the city of Linz before taking a train to Enns, the oldest town in Austria. You will get to see plenty of traditional farm buildings en route to Mitterkirchen, where could visit the open air museum of "Medionemeton".
Day 4 - Mitterkirchen/Perg to Ybbs/Persenbeug (approx 45km) - Today's leg will take you through some of the most stunning scenery on this tour. The narrow passages and gorges of the Danube provide some interesting cycling. If you get a chance it's worth taking a little time out to take a look around the village of Grein, which holds Austria's oldest theatre and a castle.
Day 5 - Ybbs/Persenbeug to Aggstein/Wachau (approx 40km) - The Wachau region is reknown for winegrowing, with vines growing on the steep hills aside of the Danube. Why not take some time out and try a little local wine at one of the vineyards. Once you reach Aggstein take in the beautiful views
Day 6 - Aggstein/Wachau to Krems/Traismauer (approx 34/49km) - Passing through more vineyards you will reach the town of Durnstein. Take a short but rather steep walk up to the castle for some great views of the region. Krems is then just a short cycle ride away.
Day 7 - Krems/Traismauer to Vienna (approx 39km) - Leaving this beautiful region by train you will arrive in Tulln for the last cycle ride to Vienna.
Day 8 - Vienna - Make the most of some free time in Vienna prior to taking the train back to Passau, however if you wish you can extend your stay in Vienna.
The tour isn't escorted however your luggage will be transfered daily from farmhouse to farmhouse and you have an emergency hotline in the event of any issues.
