Ski Holidays in Kaprun
Kaprun is an ideal ski destination with its high snow sure glacier areas offering skiing for much, indeed most, of the year.....you can ski in the autumn and well into May. The glacier skiing area – the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, at an altitude of 2,900m, guarantees skiing for ten months of the year. The more level slopes of the nearby Maiskogel family mountain are perfect for beginners – this is accessed by a cable car from the resort as well as a 4-person chairlift. This area complements the glacier ski area and means the resort is an ideal choice for a mixed ability group.
Additionally, there is the extensive Schmittenhöhe which is located above the resort of Zell am See – this area can be accessed by a regular free bus (every 15 minutes) or from the gondola which is just outside Kaprun.
Bus-linked to Zell am See, Kaprun makes up part of the Europa Sport region, with 130km of pistes, 50 of which are local. Like its neighbour, Kaprun is a year-round resort, with the Kitzsteinhorn glacier.
However, unlike the bigger Zell, Kaprun is a traditional Austrian village, with a decent selection of restaurants and accommodation. It has quieter nightlife, but is still pretty fun and varied.
