Christmas Markets in Salzburg
As the birthplace of the carol Silent Night - composed in Oberndorf near Salzburg almost 190 years ago – Salzburg is ideal for a Christmas Market trip. The delight and joy of christmas can still be felt today as you wander around the Christmas Markets in and around Salzburg or slide over the pristine snow in horse-drawn sleighs or enjoy the delightful music at one of the many festive concerts.
The atmosphere is festive and filled with the scent of cinnamon, baked apples and gingerbread. The Christmas lights with stars and angels light up the the streets and lanes and happy people huddle in the warmth of the market stands with a glass of mulled wine or punch in their hands and twinkle in their eyes as they look forward to the Christmas festivities.

Salzburg makes an excellent centre as the base for a ski safari of the surrounding mountain countryside and the Salzburg Super Ski Card covers most of the big and small ski resorts in (and out of) the province.
More famous resorts, such as Zell am See, Saalbach and Obertauern, are included on the card, along with some hidden gems in the area, such as the Hochkönig and the ski resorts of the Salzburger Sportwelt.
But the pass also includes some large ski areas outside the province of Salzburg, such as Kitzbühel and Schladming in the Tyrol and Styria.
