Camping and Apartment Holidays

Now that the sun has arrived in many parts of the UK, it seems OK to re-consider camping as a viable holiday consideration. Ideal, as its excellent value and fun for all the family......

Camping across Europe:

Camping is a great, inexpensive way to take a holiday. Whether you`re a solo traveller or planning a family holiday, it`s a wonderful chance to see the world and experience the great outdoors without breaking the bank. The fresh air, the lush greenery and opportunities to look out and see the stars each night can do more to uplift and cheer you than anything else.

A camping holiday taken abroad is relatively speaking, very similar to one you might take in the United Kingdom. The only thing it requires from you is perhaps a little more in the way of forward planning and preparation, after that, it`s plain sailing (or camping!)

It may be a good idea to think about travelling more lightly than you would if you were camping in this country, unless of course, you`re going by car. Make sure any equipment you`re taking with you, such as camping stoves or anything that requires electricity or gas are compatible with the fuel/power points that are on hand in whichever destination you`re travelling to. For all of these considerations, we are on-hand to provide advice and guidance.

It`s important to remember to plan and take sufficient supplies of any medication you require as it may prove difficult to get hold of in more remote regions. Also, prepare a solid first aid kit containing any essentials you may need such as pain relief, insect repellents, plasters and bandages and anti-sickness medications. You may not, for the most part, need them, but it`s better to be safe than sorry.

Pack the right sorts of clothing, but don`t over-pack! You might want to think about making sure you have light cotton garments which will keep you cool and covered and also help guard against possible insect bites. Also think about one or two heavier items, such as sweaters and waterproof coats should there be the odd cold night or break in the weather.

We offer a range of camping options from Slovenia to Sark (near Guernsey) and from Chamonix to Italy.

Booking a holiday in a well appointed and equipped campsite like the Eurocamp Madeira Beach Holiday Park will ensure that every stage of your holiday is a wonderful experience and that nothing is left to chance. It`s the perfect destination for a relaxing family holiday that ensures plenty of time for resting as well as some great places to sight see and enjoy the surrounding beaches and waterfront.

Self-catered Apartments and Chalets:

In truth, camping is not for everyone so, if it is a step too far, do consider the options of self catered apartments and chalets.

These offer great value and flexibility and this flexibility is ideal if you are self-driving to your resort of choice. Particularly ideal if you are heading off for a golfing break as you can put the clubs in the boot and avoid the penal baggage charges that the airlines now levy on golf clubs, skis, snowboards and, as of late, even hand luggage!

We can offer a range of great self catered options across Europe and we include a ferry or tunnel crossing as standard.

Some of our favourites include:

Guernesy - week in an apartment with ferry crossing and an activity program from just £970 for family of 4

Alpe D'Huez - 4 bedroom chalet with ferry crossing and included bike hire - August week is £1,200 - sleeps up to 8 so two familes of 4 for £600 per family.

Chamonix - great place for a summer holiday and their are some excellent apartments and chalets that provide an excellent base to enjoy the town or the rafting or the parapenting or the many great activities that we offer in the resort - see Doing more

If you would like some options fro a cost-effective summer break tailored for your family - just email us your request including your prefererd dates, the number of people and any preferred activities you would like to include - contact us

Whatever you choose, do make sure you have adequate travel insurance. These days, policies to insure you for camping trips are relatively inexpensive. It`s important to make sure you`re fully covered, as an uninsured traveller who becomes ill or is injured overseas can face extortionate medical bills, or even in some cases be refused treatment in hospitals, without the correct cover......more info
