Chalet Training Course for Winter 11/12

Last Tuesday we drove down to the alps with various supplies for the training course and the season and yesterday our staff arrived in Montgenevre.

Since Tuesday we have been busy getting the chalet ready for the training course - opening up the rooms and the kitchen and of course doing all the shopping for the training week. During the next week or so we will be covering all the information that our chalet hosts and resert reps need to know to ensure our guests have a great holiday. We'll be discussing our menus, food hygiene, health and safety, apres ski, transfers, company standards and uniform, linen organisation, chalet shopping, menu planning, cleaning, accounts and much more.

Practical sessions include cleaning rooms, putting snow chains onto the company vehicles, driving in the mountains, shopping, visiting the airport, welcome speeches and of course lots of cooking. Last night we were treated to pear and roquefort salad, followed by coq au vin and then a double decker chocolate mousse. The vegetarian option was a curry. There wasn't much left at the end of the evening which is always a good sign of how much everyone enjoyed it and I know everyone had plenty to eat. Each day we have a different team in the kitchen and I'm looking forward to see what todays team have in store for us!

The shopping carts laden with the food/supplies for the training week - this was only the first shop in Chambery as we then carried onto Briancon to buy more fresh fruit and veg!
That's one of our minibuses in the background  - we've picked up 2 of them already - there are more to collect after training.
