Helmet for life scheme

“Helmet 4 life” Scheme for Children

For those of you going away skiing with children this year, I have just been reading about a great scheme that has been launched by a sports equipment manufacturer called Ruroc – see www.ruroc.com.

We parents all appreciate the cost of skiing with children and having to replace/borrow gear for the ski holiday. One critical item – the helmet – will now become a bit more cost effective to replace.

The ‘Helmet 4 Life’ scheme will allow young skiers and boarders to exchange their helmet for a larger size as they grow.

For a one-off payment of £4.99 on top of the purchase price of their first RG-1 YL helmet, they will then be able to change their helmet any time after three months after that first purchase with a 50% discount on subsequent helmet purchases costs with no upper age limit on the scheme.

Apparently, the idea came after RUROC did research into the safety of children on the slopes and found the most common injury on the slopes was head trauma, accounting for around 60% of all ski and board related fatalities.

We all know that when we are away on the ski holiday, the children really go for it, so it is a comfort to know they have a helmet that fits - whether they are skiing, snowboarding or enjoying the luge in Montgenevre or similar.....and it will be nice to make this aspect of the holiday that bit more afforadable.
