Montgenevre plans to extend ski area

There are currently only 30 ski resorts in Europe with skiing over 3000m and Montgenevre plans to join them.

It will also be the first ski area on the southern alps to have skiing at this altitude. The new area will be around Mount Chaberton on the border between France and Italy and will offer fantastic views of the French and Italian Alps.

It's part of a 26 million euro investment and after much negotiating is due to open in 2012/13.
The Milky Way ski area is already one of the largest in the world with over 400km of skiing and this year Montgenevre managed to stay open for skiing  until 29th April.

The resort itself has seen alot of investment in the last 10 years with lots of additional apartments and a new hotel (Hotel Le Chalet Blanc). The Hameau des Airelles apartments have been very popular and we continue to feature our Chalet L'Ours Blanc (we went there for our holiday this winter and had a lovely week - the children are already begging to return next winter!)

The Montgenevre/Claviere ski area (Mont de La Lune) whic is to be extended around Mount Chaberton (in the bottom left area of the map)
