Pitztaler Wild Face Extreme Freeride

It's time for some off-piste action in the Pitztal valley: on the qualification day, participants will battle it out for one of the 55 sought-after start places in the big Wild Face Finale. The rules are simple: the fastest time wins and everyone tries to take the best route down into the valley. The winners from last year plus the finalists from the qualifying rounds can take part in the Pitztal Wild Face and have to find the perfect route down the 4.6 km long unprepared free terrain, over 1,510 m of altitude, at 1 minute intervals. They start out from the Mittagskogel on the Pitztal glacier at 3,173 m. The fastest athlete of the day will win the second Pitztal Wild Face extreme freeriding race. The destination point, located at 1,663 m in Mandarfen, is ideal for spectators as over half of the race track can be viewed from here.

The starting shot for the first skiers will be fired on 26 March at 11.30 and the winners' ceremony will take place at the end of the race in the finish area in Mandarfen. A tip for all spectators: bring your binoculars!
