Just an hour from Grenoble and perched on a plateau in the Belledonne mountain range opposite the Vercors, Chamrousse was used for both the mens and womens alpine skiing events in the 1968 Olympics based in Grenoble.

Price guide:

At £250 for an apartment for 4/5 (as little as £50 per person) the Domaine de L'Arselle is excellent value. With lift pass and transfer included, your holiday can be secured for £1,204 (£240.80 per person).

Resort Amenities:

There are plenty of good value restaurants in the Le Recoin (1650), together with the usual amenities, banks, post office, a pharmacy and several supermarkets. Chamrousse 1750 is smaller but also has sports shops, a small supermarket, bars and restaurants. Activities in resort other than downhill and cross country skiing include ice driving, ice diving, snow shoeing and snowbiking.

Ski Holidays in Chamrousse

It's location perched up on the plateau means the views are superb from resort and from the slopes but Chamrousse is a great option for a ski holiday since it is such a short transfer from Grenoble airport. Previously the resort was only used by local skiers and weekend skiers from nearby Grenoble and Lyon, but it has recently started to become known on the British market - for good reasons.

Skiing & Boarding in Chamrousse

The resort is split into 3 different areas - Le Recoin which is situated at 1650m , Chamrousse 1700 and Chamrousse 1750 - all of which feed into the same ski area. The top of the ski area is the Croix de Chamrousse which is at 2250m from where you have a panoramic view of the valley of Grenoble.

The resort is ideal for beginners and improvers since it has generously wide pistes allowing you to develop your skills on the 100km of pistes.

For those of you keen on cross country, there are 37km of trails in the Arselle area as well.

Within Chamrousse, there are a range of self catered apartments - a couple of them have restaurants so HB supplements are available - more on accommodtion

The Balcoins de Recoin also has an excellent spa area so, although costing a bit more, it is highly recommended by us.
