Accommodation:: We have a couple of hotel and a couple of apartments in the village of Font Romeu and an apartment in Pyrenees 2000. The latter offers the fastest route in to the skiing and the former has the easiest acces to the heart of the resort - for evening activities.

Ski Holidays in Font Romeu

Font-Romeu is part of the Catalan Pyrenees and is justly proud of its delightful climate, its traditions and its surroundings.

This authentic village does host a modern and panoramic ski resort and it has two centres with Font-Romeu at 1650m and Pyenees 2000 at........, you guessed it, 2,000m

As you wind your way up in to Font Romeu, do look out for the Heliodysée which is the helix shaped building covered in glass - it is a research station looking into solar power and how to extract energy from the sun. With 2,750 hours of sunshine each year, the decision was taken that this was an ideal location for research. Visits can be arranged - see the Doing More tab and select Tourist information.

Font-Romeu is stunning and is surrounded by towering peaks that rise to 2900 meters - it claims to be the sunniest in France......but there are a few that claim that!

Taking the train to Font Romeu

The train station at Font Romeu is just 3km from the ski resort and the best option is to take the Friday evening train from Paris. The train leaves circa 21.45 and you will wake up in the morning to find yourself in the Pyrenees.

Change trains at Latour de Carol and just 75 minutes later, you will be in Font Romeu - approx 09.45 on Saturday.

This is a great option to be able to ski for 7 days.

Getting to Paris on the Friday can either be by Eurostar or fly - as many UK airports offer a Paris service.

Skiing & Boarding in Font Romeu

The resort has 58km of downhill ski runs and 111 km of cross-country trails and the resort benefits from in excess of 500 snow cannons

The lift served area extends from 1800 metres to 2200 metres and there is a snowpark.

The ski area is ideal for beginners and intermediates although there are a few blacks to keep you focused - the resort is popular with the Spanish so the busy weeks are the one's that coincide with the Spanish holidays more than the French holidays.

This resort is ideal for a family ski holiday.

The resort is a real Pyrenean village so the self catered options are great as you can eat out very well in the range of restaurants and bars.

Being a traditional village, there are of course a range of other facilities and activities in Font Romeu which include shops, a casino, cinema, ice-rink, swimming pool and sports centre.

There are natural hot-spring baths including an external hot pool surrounded by snow - a delight!
