Isola 2000 is 17km from the picturesque mountain village of Isola village, and is a purpose built ski resort that was originally conceived by the English.

With 120km of pistes it's easy to see why the resort is a popular weekend attraction from the Riviera.  Pedestrians can take the Pélevos cable car and rise to 2,320m above sea level and enjoy a panoramic view of the resort. We're told that on a clear day you can see the sea (but as it was cloudy when we were there we can't confirm this!).

The main part of the resort is one interlinked block with accommodation above and the shops and facilities below. This is where you will find the tourist office, ski shops, ski school, supermarkets, pharmacy, bowling alley, cinema, restaurants and bars.

At the entrance to resort there is a large car park which is free of charge and the Galerie Marchand has free WIFI (you can also access this from the public areas of the 2 hotels we feature). During the school holidays there resort offers night skiing a couple of times each week from pm to 10pm.

If you have a car and want to visit the area then you can head back down to the village of Isola 17 km down the mountain to see Saint Peter's church and bell tower, the village wash-houses, oven and grist mill. This is also where you will find the Aquavallée Fitness Centre (sauna, pool, jacuzzi, hammam, weight training). Other places worth a visit in the area are the chapel of St Anne and St Roch, Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée, Saint-Etienne's church and its famous organs; Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, its tall old slate-roof houses and Roubion, clinging to the mountain, with its fountains, ramparts and castle ruins.
