There are many local specialities to taste and buy but there is also a wealth of variety offered from other countries (Canada, Russia, Lithuania) although each christmas the visitors may be a little different.
The Lille Christmas market offers lots of great present ideas - allowing you to get Christmas shopping wrapped up!

Lille is an excellent city for shopping in general. It has a pedestrianised shopping area as well as larger shopping centres such as Euralille and more than 3900 shops! (not that I counted them)
It is a shoppers paradise with luxury boutiques and designer shops in Old Lille, department stores and many of the usual high street names in the city centre - if you are looking for a bargain you should head to the Wazemmes area.
Opening hours are usually 10am to 7pm on Monday to Saturdays and most will open on Sundays during December.
