St Jean Montclar
At first glance the ski area looks quite small, but the listed kilometres of advertised pistes (not quite 50km) do not take into account all the runs you can do between the pistes.
The ski area covers many hectares and you can criss-cross through the evergreen and deciduous trees and enjoy some fantastic skiing which will keep you entertained all week.
Set amidst an undulating landscape with slopes from 1,300m to 2,500m, the skiing area extends over the two back-to-back slopes of its towering mountain. With views of the Lac de Serre Poncon and the Ubaye valley it’s sometimes difficult to concentrate on looking where you are skiing!
The resort is small and friendly but has all the general facilities you would expect as well as a 600 square metre ice rink and a great area for tobogganing. The resort also has invested in snow making facilities so that several hectares can be well served by artificial snow if required.
Saint Jean Montclar secured recognition and was awarded the "Station Verte" and "Ski France" labels, thanks to its pure “freshair”, its mountain spring water, its exceptional weather conditions, its many lakes including Serre-Ponçon and a fair range of shops. This authenticity and conviviality give Saint Jean Montclar a distinctive charm which we find compelling.
This is probably not the resort for you if you are looking for great nightlife, but if you are looking for a family holiday then this really is hard to beat.
See how great these prices look!
