What We Would Change

Ideally there would be a wider range of flying options into Preveza airport as it's the nearest. Manchester and Gatwick still seem to be the only options though unless you fly to Corfu or Athens.

Getting there:

You can fly direct to Preveza and then take a transfer to Galini (approx 45mins) or you can fly into Corfu.

From Corfu you then need to take a taxi to the port (10 mins) and a ferry across to Igoumenitsa. There are lots of ferries and they take between 1.5 to 2 hours. A transfer will pick you up at the ferry port and take you to Galini (approx 2 hours).

Alternatively you can also fly to Athens and hire a car. It;s a 4.5 hour drive from Athen airport.

Take a boat trip to Meganisi and have a lunch of fresh fish and local wine
Go snorkelling
Take a kayak out and explore some of the coastline
Head down to Nidri for lunch or dinner on the waterfront
Hire a car and head over the west side of Lefkada to the beach at Pefkoulia - a long sandy beach where the sea is reputed to be at it's most turquoise.

Lefkas

Lefkas is actually joined to the mainland of Greece by a narrow strip of land and the first town you come to is Lefkas/Lefkada town. Nidri is on the east coast of Lefkas and has a high street full of souvenir shops, clothes shops and ice cream parlours. The waterfront has numerous yachts moored up and there are lots of restaurants along the port. Down at the southern tip of Lefkas is the windsurfing paradise of Vassiliki and from here you can see the Island of Kefalonia.

The Onassis owned island of Skorpios is just across the water and you will go past it if you take a trip across to another island - Meganisi. This is a great place to enjoy a meal of freshly caught fish and to have a dip in the turquoise waters.
