Slovenia only has 42km of coastline and Portoroz has the largest beaches on the coast. It's a large, built up resort with hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops and is an excellent location to base yourself for visits into Slovenia and some of Croatia.
The promenade along the front is always bustling with people out for a stroll, cycling and rollerblading. It is a 45 minute stroll from Portoroz to Piran (or you can hire a bike/catch the bus) - and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and ice cream parlours along the way. There are childrens playgrounds along the front (free and paying) and also a crazy golf course.
It is very easily accessible (Trieste airport is only 80km away and Ljubljana is under an hour and a half away) and there are lots of places within easy reach that are well worth a visit - The capital city of Ljubljana is charming, the caves of Postonja and Skocjan are stunning and Predjama Castle which is over 700 years old is built in front of a large cave and perched on a cliff. The other Slovenian coastal towns (Piran and Koper) are also worth a visit. Venice is a little over 2 hours away by road, but can also be visited by boat. See "Doing More" for more details.
The hotels we feature in Portoroz are actually situated along the promenade which links Portoroz with Piran.
