Summer Holidays in Zermatt

If mountain enjoyment & outdoor activities are your 'thing', welcome to Mecca!  Hiking, Biking & climbing for all levels, from the beginner, to the advanced 'Bergsteiger', in fact Zermatt offers more attainable climbing over 4000m than any other European resort!

Mythical mountains surround Zermatt and day trips are available to them all, take the Rack & pinion railway to the top of the Gornergrat and on a clear day see over 29 peaks over 4000m, get up close & personal to the summer skiing on the Matterhorn Glacier, visit the idyllic alpine lake at the Schwarzsee area and at the Rothron mountain, get your cameras ready for those postcard shots of the Matterhorn.  On Furi & Blauherd the more gentle rambler & walker will be found - along with the most beautiful Swiss Alpine flowers & cows - we could go on and on....

Depending on your level of activity & what you want to do during your stay, various 'value' passes are available.  If you really do want to tick peaks of your list, think about the Peak Pass, consecutive travel from 3 -21 days allows you pretty much unlimited travel on the local mountain railway networks.  An alternative is the Panoramic Pass for those of you on a tighter scheduled. Also, don't forget that on pretty much most of the public transport in Switzerland, children under 16, accompanied by their parents & a family pass travel for free, making Switzerland exceptional value for money!

For those of you wishing to explore the area, Zermatt's nearest neighbour is the 'Pearl of the Alps' Saas Fee, easily accessible using the ever reliable Swiss Transport System, and for those of you wishing to see the mountains from all angles, helicopter flights around all these amazing peaks are also available locally, the excursion which would truly make your stay unique!
